Presentation ON PREVENTION AND CURE OF PTSD given during San Bernardino Terrorist attack
On December 2, as a class of psychology students listened with rapt attention to a presentation given on the causes, symptoms of PTSD and effective solutions, the radio announced that terrorists Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were creating fear,; trauma and stress by attacking employees of the Public Health department who were training and holding a holiday party.
A presentation by President of African PTSD Relief David Shapiro and long-time TM teachers Drs., Barry and Cindy Katz explained both the wide range of benefits of TM as well as the specific benefits for reducing PTSD.
The presentation given to 70 psychology students at California State University, San Bernardino, planned weeks in advance, corresponded with the attack. The students in the class reviewed the causes of PTSD, which include war, violence, terrorism, sexual abuse and natural disaster, and the symptoms. They discussed the symptoms that may arise from these types of extremely stressful events and then reviewed the alternative approaches and how effective TM is for those beleaguered by post-traumatic stress.
The TM teachers and David were invited to return to give more presentations to new groups in the future.
This lecture was part of a tour from November 1 to December 13, by the President of African PTSD Relief, David Shapiro.
David’s PowerPoint Presentation provided information for mental health professionals and inspired supporters in New York City, Washington DC, Berkeley, Silicon Valley, Orange County, California, San Fernando Valley California, and even in San Bernardino.
