Join Africa PTSD Relief Internship Program: Make a difference
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my participation in the Africa PTSD Relief internship program. It is so exciting to have a team behind you that supports, encourages, and offers insight about ways to further advance the knowledge most people have about post-traumatic stress disorder. I have been able to gain an in-depth understanding of PTSD and the role that transcendental meditation plays within it. My supervisors are actively seeking ways to help the interns become more involved and engaged and are very considerate of our time. We have weekly phone conferences where we discuss what has been done, in addition to what plans we have for the future and how they can be improved. I encourage anyone to join the efforts of Africa PTSD Relief and to inquire about the internship program because it is a very beneficial and insightful experience.” Josee Muldrew

The Intern Opportunity
Africa PTSD Relief interns embark on a journey of exploration, skill development and purpose. While you are learning, you will be mentored, involved in challenging projects and given the opportunity to make a tremendous difference in the lives of Africans suffering from post-traumatic stress.
PTSD Relief Project
Post-traumatic stress disorder is a chronic mental health disorder caused by war, violence, terrorism, physical or sexual abuse, and natural disasters. People with PTSD have reoccurring memories of the traumatic events, which results in emotional and psychological trauma. As a result people with PTSD exhibit depression, experience sleeplessness and anger and have a propensity for violence. PTSD hinders the ability to focus and comprehend. It also hinders the development of harmonious relationships. It has been estimated that 100 million Africans are affected by the debilitating effects of PTSD symptoms.
PTSD Relief Approach
PTSD Relief Now employs the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique to treat PTSD. TM has been shown to be a rapid and effective way to treat PTSD. Peer-reviewed studies published in the Journal of Traumatic Stress (April, 2013; February, 2014) reported that within 30 days of learning this approach, 90 percent of Congolese war refugees with PTSD became non-symptomatic. A third study, in submission, showed similar results for South African students living in violent communities that were not at war.
There is an urgent need to implement this simple, effective and inexpensive approach throughout the entire continent and your involvement as an intern would be an essential part of our success. There are thousands of Africans requesting our assistance. We are here to help them.
