The TM Group Became Asymptomatic
This video provides an overview of the research conducted on TM and PTSD in Africa. It includes refugees discussing their experiences with PTSD and TM, as well as Norman Rosenthal, MD discussing the nature of PTSD, and researchers Monte Harris, MD and Fred Travis, Ph.D., describing TM and the studies on it.
"In our research with refugees in Uganda what we found is that after 30 days the individuals in the TM group went from severe post-traumatic stress symptoms to asymptomatic.--they were free of post-traumatic stress." (Fred Travis, Ph.D.) |

"It's Meditation that rescued me"
Pemba first describes the events that led to her becoming a refugee and the symptoms of PTSD that she suffered for years after those events. She then describes the relief and improvement she has felt since learning TM.
"My mind can function again. Before I could not sleep at all for days on end. Now I can sleep. Before that I would constantly think about my troubles... constantly thinking about the children I have lost and don't know where they are today.... It's meditation that rescued me." (Pemba) |

"This is wonderful"
Following the death of her husband and her brutal abuse and rape, Esperance suffered from many symptoms of PTSD. She cried as she recounted her experiences and she did not have much hope for herself. She came to learn TM "for the good of her children."
After only one week of regular meditation, she appears transformed and the difference she describes in her state of mind is remarkable. "Now, even if you want me to cry, I can't, I can't. It is not there in me.... I am free. I am a free woman. ...This is wonderful, for me and for the whole world"
